Fly South / Launch point
Kaikōura
Kaikōura is a small coastal town beneath the Seaward Kaikōura Range, with mountains on one side and the Pacific on the other. Its name means 'meal of crayfish', and seafood, whale watching and swimming with dolphins are all part of the local draw. It is a rare place where an ordinary coffee stop comes with an extraordinary backdrop.
About Kaikōura
The town sits at a natural junction between mountains and ocean, and its position beneath such a close, high range gives every direction a different character. In Fly South, that makes Kaikōura an ideal starting point: turn seaward for open Pacific horizons, follow the peninsula for its wildlife and cliffs, or climb inland toward the sharp, folded ranges that seem to rise straight out of the town.
