Picton

Picton is where the South Island's coastline begins to break into a beautiful puzzle of bays and ridges. Ferries bring a lively pulse to the small harbour, but a few minutes beyond town the Sounds become wonderfully quiet. It is an excellent place to start following your curiosity.

About Picton

Inter-island ferries connect Picton to Wellington across Cook Strait, and the town also sits near the site of the historic Perano whaling station in Tory Channel. This is where the mainland coast begins to break apart into water and peninsula. In Fly South, take a short loop around the harbour, or follow the Sounds for as long as the constantly changing shoreline keeps you curious.
